Where Technological know-how meets know-why…

“I know there’s a proverb which says, ‘To err is human’ but a human error is nothing to what a computer can do if it tries.”

– Agatha Christie, Hallowe’en Party, 1969

WARNING: THIS PAGE CONTAINS STRONG VULGAR LANGUAGE AND SUGGESTIVE THEMES THAT MAY OFFEND. THIS BLOG MAY NOT BE SUITABLE FOR ALL READERS, ESPECIALLY THOSE UNDER THE AGE OF 18 OR 21 IN SOME STATES.

I’ve held standard positions throughout my employment but also some experience in IT supervision, and business administration.

My Personal Life

A little more about myself personally…I am your run of the mill hardcore nerd. If its a comic book, video game, anime, board game, chances are good I’ve either read it, played it, seen it, or its on my list. I’m also in a committed relationship…(with a nerd).

So why the blog?

Lets face it folks. There is no escaping technology (unless your Amish which if you are….how are you reading this?) In today’s world you have a better chance of running out of oxygen by simply standing outside, then you do managing to go the whole day without having some kind of contact with technology (okay…so the science and math don’t actually support that but hopefully you get the idea). In all the time I spend around technology whether I’m getting paid to do it or not I see so many different people interact with it in different ways. Some people treat facebook like its a bible or dictionary, some people learned how to do their nails or hair from youtube, some people met their soulmate on pornhub personals, some people see me fix stuff and think I’m a witch (No pitchforks please) I see all these different interactions with technology around me and while I do my best not to judge anyone for their own philosophies on how their technology should be used, I feel more and more compelled to give my own in the hopes that I might give someone a different perspective and many of the problems I continue to see on a daily basis either slow down or stop.

A warning about this blog…

Before anyone reads too much further I wanted to make sure I set some expectations about what you may or may not read in one of my blog posts… I make every attempt possible to respect everyone’s sensitivities and opinions while avoiding offending people’s beliefs…having said that there are a couple things you should know…

  1. I Curse worse than sailor and I’m not changing that…its my blog and if I’m not typing this the same way I would say it in a casual conversation…its not actually how I feel (….fuck!).
  2. I will talk about subjects that are “touchy” “edgy” and may be extremely offensive to anyone…If you don’t like that…close the browser or at least the tab. (I have an internet connection, A first amendment, and poor judgement…and I’m not afraid to use them).
  3. English was my least favorite school subject and while I attempt to keep grammar and spelling clean enough to read… I do not cater to grammar nazi’s.
  4. Your more then welcome to fact check me on anything I state as fact…who knows you might prove me wrong…but as a once great Johnny Depp looking pirate said “I rather doubt it”.
  5. I did not make this blog for children young teens or ultimately anyone under the age of 21…while some of the values I try to instill might not be bad things to teach the younger generation keep in mind rules 1 and 2 will apply no matter the discussion.
  6. Discussing any kind of philosophy often re-directs the discussion into other areas such as politics, ethics, business practices, ect…I will attempt to avoid that and to keep the conversation as focused on technology as I can but just keep in mind that I might start talking about technology and might end up talking about something stupid (like flat earthers).
  7. Trolls are welcome…(bring it you keyboard candy ass!!!).
  8. I’m not getting paid for this nor do I ultimately intend to…I will try to make regular posts and keep up with interactions about the articles but I do have a personal life outside of this blog and I may not be a daily poster…if the site grows I’ll do my best to adjust but I make no promise that there will be something new every day.
  9. After a few blog posts I’ve come to notice that the concept of hacking is a common theme in my posts. This ones gonna be in caps cause I want this clear…while I fully support everyone’s right to use their technology however they wish to do so….I DO NOT CONDONE, SUPPORT, ADVOCATE, RECOMMEND, OR OTHERWISE ENCOURAGE ILLEGAL ACTIVITY…if you don’t know what is legal to do with your technology don’t worry I’ll have a blog post for that eventually.

Philosophy VS Fact

This blog is about technological philosophy…philosophy often has a way of running side by side with fact without ever really crossing into it. A fact is something that can be proven to anyone with any perspective or perception. A philosophy is a belief in a right or wrong way to do something given the perspective of the person making the choice. When making a blog post I will attempt to stick mainly to philosophy while only using facts to support the perspective.

Example: If my philosophy is something like “Don’t trust the cloud” this shouldn’t be taken as a fact. Merely what I believe to be true about the cloud given what I know about it. Now that philosophy might contain a couple facts about the cloud which help draw on the notion of why it shouldn’t be trusted.

Many of my own philosophies can actually make it hard for me to site sources of specific information…this is due mainly to…well…my philosophies. (I avoid using the internet for facts as often as I can…see my first blog post for a better understanding of why that is). Since I don’t like to site online sources of information I can appreciate that much of what I claim as fact may be completely dismissed by readers since I won’t prove what I say to be true. That’s cool…its a philosophy blog…no one is obligated to take this seriously. But in order to get my point across I will attempt to give you logical thought and sometimes fun things to try that should ultimately help support my claim.
